Abstract:

Several awareness workshops were jointly organized by the Environment, Agriculture
and Education Society (EAES) along with the International Union for Conservation of Nature and
Natural Resources (IUCN) Species Survival Commission’s (SSC) Monitor Lizard Specialist Group (MLSG) in five districts of West Bengal, India from 29 July to 2 August 2019. The main objective of the workshops was to create widespread awareness among the local youth regarding the conservation, utilization and illegal trade of wildlife, with a special focus on monitor lizards in India. In total, more than 1,000 students aged 12 to 24 participated in the workshops.
