The fastest, smallest movements on the planet are produced by creatures such as mantis shrimp and trap-jaw ants. We will explore the biomechanical principles of their remarkable control of energy flow, examine how these systems evolved, and probe how these discoveries offer interdisciplinary insights which translate to synthetic systems.
