  • Organizing scientific and public meetings on subjects in the field of history of biology
  • Raising external funds and attracting sponsors
  • Acquiring estates ([Teil]-Nachlässe) of scholars, scientists, naturalists, e.g. those of the 19th to 20th century, providing access for researchers

Research interests

  • History of Science; Development of early Darwinism in England, Prussia and Brazil; interactions between Charles Darwin and the brothers Fritz and Hermann Müller
  • Zoological and botanical book illustration from the 16th to 18th century
  • Natural History and Arts, naturalism in the 17th century, e.g. the work of Maria Sibylla Merian (etcher and naturalist)
