How do I request samples?

DNA or tissue samples can be searched through the GGBN portal:
NB: the portal does not yet include the majority of our samples; we are currently importing data – in the meantime feel free to send your material inquiries by e-mail.

For material requests, please contact us directly:
biobank [at]
We can perform DNA extractions on stored tissues on demand. You can also send the Biobank your tissue sample and we will do the DNA extraction for you, if part of the DNA sample is to be stored in the LIB Biobank and storage conditions are met.
The LIB Biobank is a member of the Global Genome Biodiversity Network (GGBN), of the DNA Bank Network and of Frozen Ark and is dedicated to the conservation, sustainable use and research of biological diversity. In the spirit of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the commercial use of its samples is strictly excluded (except where this is agreed with the country of origin).

It may happen that the LIB Biobank might not be able to comply with every material request. Amount and condition of stored material, relevance for non-commercial research and possible use limitations have to be considered.
