The museum commits itself in the education of students and trainees.

In cooperation with the university of Bonn students are trained in organismic biology and evolution. The library and its archives join in supporting the work of the museum.

The organisation berufundfamilie Service GmbH has awarded the Museum Koenig the audit berufundfamilie® certificate in 2019. The audit helps us to attract qualified women and men who come with family and stay with perspective at ZFMK.

The possibilities of dealing with reconciliation situations through flexible working hours and places of work for the various working areas and requirements are made more transparent and systematized, so that all employees can identify with the company with high job satisfaction.

We promote creativity, especially in science, and are aware of the individual working methods. We cultivate the culture of trusting cooperation together; Leaders and employees inform each other on issues and questions of compatibility and proven solutions. This willingness to find ways through dialogue is further developed through good organization and communication.

Margarethe Koenig Award

The Margarethe Koenig Award is an award to fund international female junior scientists shortly after completing their PhD. It is awarded as an employment (TV-L 13), which is limited to 12 months, and should serve as a "stepping stone" for the future academic career.

Declaration Gender Equality

The LIB has long considered it important to proactively pursue gender equality and to implement efforts to achieve a balanced gender ratio in the institution as a whole, but also at all functional levels.

Women's network

The women's network consists of female employees from almost all departments and work areas of the LIB and exchanges information about general concerns of female employees.

Parent-Child Office

The parent-child office serves as office with additional equipment for nappy changing, feeding babies, resting and play. All employees of ZFMK may use the room for dealing with short-term problems in regular child-care.

Staff Council

The staff council at the Zat the Leibniz Institute for the Analysis of Biodiversity Change consists of seven members. We attempt to fulfil the increasing amount of various obligations to the best of our knowledge.
