Fulbright and the Year of German-American Friendship
After a four-day seminar organized by Fulbright Germany and the Leibniz Association in collaboration with the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC, in November 2019, closer cooperation is developing. 26 German and American curators, educators and other experts from museums or similar institutions such as Memorials came together to talk about the different ways of working in their fields and countries. Eight participants were representatives of the Leibniz research museums. Smithsonian attendees in Washington, DC explored museums as places of social discourse and learning - and, more broadly, as institutions that are critical to democracies. The seminar was part of the year of German-American friendship. We are currently working on a release.
The action plan of the eight research museums is currently a project funded by the federal and state governments that shows the strengths of the knowledge transfer of the institutes and especially the research museums of the Leibniz Association.
