Project title:
Island evolution: Analysis of the speciation of Teira dugesii (Sauria: Squamata: Lacertidae)
ZFMK Project lead:
Object of research:
Reptiles

Description

Behavioural differences and sexual choice systems of populations of Teira dugesii (Lacertidae) on mainland Madeira and smaller islands of the entire archipelago will be studied to get new insights in the speciation and evolution of island terrestrial vertebrates. First results show differences in female choice, development of signal colourations and feeding strategies between different populations within the main island and to smaller islands.
