Project title:
ButterflyNet--an integrative framework for comparative biology
ZFMK Project lead:
Object of research:
Butterflies

Description

ButterflyNet is a project funded by the National Science Fundation and aims to sequence ~400 genes for one member of all genera and 13 genes for one member of all other species using target enrichment.

Butterflies are the best known of all insect taxa, making them the ideal target for comparative studies. We will produce the first fully resolved species level phylogeny of a major insect clade and synthesize available databases on host associations, lifehistory traits and distribution data in order to provide new knowledge products to the broad community of researchers and the general public
