Description

In this study we correlate the activity patterns of different bird groups with their brain structure in a global approach. We use micro-computed tomography (μCT) images as the data basis, reconstruct these three-dimensional ("endocasts") and analyze possible connections between the brain structure and the activity patterns of the birds (e.g. diurnal vs. nocturnal). For the μCT images, we use skull preparations from the ornithological collection of the Museum Koenig as well as scans from previously published works.
