In this project we analyze the diversification and adaptation of kingfishers (Alcedinidae). This study is the first to consider the morphological and ecological differentiations of kingfishers at the family level. We focus specifically on bill morphology which we investigate using different analytical methods. The aim of this project is to draw phylogenetically relevant conclusions (including molecular and biogeographic data) explaining the variation of specific body structures and feeding habits as well as the occurrence of certain species in different habitats.
