The LIB-Museum Koenig Bonn, the DELATTINIA - Naturforschende Gesellschaft des Saarlandes and the Department of Biology Education at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn have joined forces in the FörTax project. We would like to contribute to countering the decline in species knowledge.
It is not only biodiversity that has been dwindling for years, but also knowledge about species and their ecological habitats.

FörTax stands for the communication of species knowledge, which is often illustrated in identification books, posters and other media. Species knowledge and art are therefore
closely linked.

In the run-up to the last conference for species knowledge, FörTaxCon in November 2023, the FörTax project has invited entries for the ARTenkenntnis art competition! The twelve impressive pictures exhibited here
on the central theme of "Species Knowledge and Me" were presented and judged at FörTaxCon. The artistic techniques range from ink
to acrylic and watercolour paints to digital illustrations.
Whether abstract, naturalistic or scientific - the pictures of the participants in the painting competition show a fascinating view of the creatures of our planet.
The submissions demonstrate a great interest in biodiversity and knowledge of species, which is also clear from the accompanying picture texts.
The more than 600 participants at FörTaxCon voted Rieke Mittwollen the winner with her picture "Fire salamander and crested newt".
