The focus is on working out the characteristics of the five vertebrate classes (fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals) and their differentiation and categorisation.
Starting with mammals and birds, the characteristics of fish, amphibians and reptiles are emphasised. The comparison of body structure, body surface area, movement, respiration, reproduction and habitat of the five classes are discussed.
