Nature inspires

"NATUR beflügelt" is a joint programme of the Alexander Koenig Society and Museum Koenig for children and young people who are particularly interested in biology and other natural sciences. It offers the opportunity to participate in current scientific research and to discover, explore and experience the great diversity of species and the ecological interrelationships of our planet outside the school day.

Under the expert guidance of the museum's scientific and educational staff, participants learn about the most important working methods of biologists - especially independent research.

Our topics

Microscopy - Excursions - Creative workshop

A small selection of topics and activities that we carry out for the youth programme:

Microscopy - the small world on a grand scale

Under the microscope, we explore tiny creatures that cannot be seen with the naked eye and make our own specimens.

Excursions - experience and explore nature

Armed with binoculars, magnifying glasses and binoculars, we explore our surroundings. We observe, examine and photograph.

Creative workshop - understanding and modelling animals

We put what we have learnt into practice and create pictures, plaster models or animal bodies made from wire mesh, dressed up and painted.

Identification exercises

Identifying insects, birds, reptiles, amphibians and mammal skulls is important know-how in biology.

A look behind the scenes

We visit the natural science collections of the Museum Koenig, take a look at the taxidermy workshops and interview scientists.

Our programmes

The "NATUR beflügelt" youth programme offers exciting programmes for children and young people.

Our offers in the youth programme

Girls make a museum.

A course by girls for girls aged 10 and over on the topic of nature.

Our experienced girls from Natur beflügelt know their way around the museum pretty well and would like to explore their favourite areas and topics with you. You will learn about the diversity of species in the museum park, take a look at the taxidermy or make your own natural products. And perhaps you will then have time and desire to stay and become part of the "Nature inspires" team.

We look forward to seeing you!

  • Costs for one school year: €80
  • Saturdays, every 14 days outside the school holidays from 10 am to 2 pm

Other topics: The museum introduces itself, bees, bat excursion, excursion to the aquarium at Cologne Zoo, rainforest, microscopy, marine biology and much more...
