Prior knowledge: Basic knowledge of evolution and ecology
Students will work on evolutionary and ecological relationships largely independently. The teaching unit begins with an introduction. Depending on the level of knowledge of the group, the mechanisms of evolution are briefly summarised and/or the necessary technical terms and facts are discussed. Then small groups are formed, each working on a worksheet. The contents of the worksheets are Main problems of plants and animals in the savannah, competition avoidance using various examples, principle of adaptive radiation, place equivalence, analogy and convergence, symbioses as special communities, influence of humans on the savannah habitat. The results of the small groups are then presented and discussed in plenary.
