Friday, 22 May
As part of the school programme, the station "(re)discovering the local animal world" invites visitors to examine previously little-noticed species directly under the binoculars and gain new perspectives on biodiversity on their own doorstep.
The "Understanding nature with artificial intelligence" station will be offered again on Friday - this time outside of the school programme - and will show how AI is used in collections and field research.
From 17:00 to 17:45, Dr Christoph Mayer will speak in P26 (Poststraße 26, Seminar Room 1) about "AI and the diversity of life" and explain how neural networks are changing scientific work.
Dr Katja Waskow will be presenting from 20:30 to 21:15 in P26 (Poststraße 26, Seminar Room 1) under the title "Glowworms, Collared Parakeets and Co.". highlights from the FörTax project, which is dedicated to teaching people about species.
In the Haus der Bildung (hall, 1st floor), Prof. Dr Bernhard Misof and Alexandra Hostert will discuss the topic "Let's talk: What will the natural history museum of the future look like?" on the role of museums in times of climate and biodiversity crisis. Everyone is cordially invited to contribute their questions and perspectives!
