Of glaciers, ridges and summits - impressions from 40 years of mountaineering
Karl Heinz Scheidtmann

My first mountain tour took me straight up a 4000 metre peak: I stood on the summit of the Mönch, looked down on the mighty ice flow of the great Aletsch glacier and was overwhelmed by the scenery and - I was incurably infected with this mountaineering virus. Many more 4000 metre peaks followed, because every summit awakens a longing for new peaks. This was also the beginning of my photography: I wanted to capture the powerful impressions and experiences - and share them.

Forest myth
Michael Kraus / Karl Heinz Scheidtmann / Uwe Wuller

Forests are often equated exclusively with a collection of trees. Well, trees are always involved. But they are by no means everything that makes up a forest. The three of them travelled through the German forests for several years and were surprised at what there was to discover in the different habitats.

Between space and time - a year of nature photography
Paul Kornacker

Paul Kornacker reports on his photographic year in which he travelled to 3 continents. His journey begins on the Galapagos Islands and ends in Namibia. Contrasts could hardly be more striking. The 3rd continent, Europe, also impresses with its diverse and magnificent nature.

Of volcanoes and fossilised rock glaciers
Frauke Fuck

The Lösershag natural forest reserve, the Schafstein fossilised rock glacier and the Gebirgsstein volcanic crater geotope - three different core zones and nature reserves in the Unesco Rhön Biosphere Reserve. Our expedition takes us to insights into the history of the earth, wild forests, basalt boulder heaps and traces of volcanism.

16:20
Meadow habitat
Naturfototreff Eschmar group

A meadow is a green area with a closed plant cover of grasses and herbs, according to the sober definition. Which plants grow in a meadow depends primarily on the soil and climatic conditions. There are different types of meadows, from salt marshes to alpine meadows, from dry grassland to wet meadows and all shades in between. Species-rich meadows are an important habitat for many animals, especially insects. We present this important and diverse habitat in a group lecture.
