Noble butterfly
We are delighted that the Ilgmann family has taken on the sponsorship of the Palla publius butterfly.
The females of this species from the Nymphalidae family can reach a wingspan of up to 8 cm. The males - like this specimen - are somewhat smaller. The broad white band on the upper sides of the forewings, which changes to a peach-coloured tone on the hind wings, as well as the eyespots and long tail appendages are characteristic.
This butterfly species is found in the rainforest regions of West Africa - from Sierra Leone via the Ivory Coast and Ghana to Cameroon.
