Ein historischer Nachweis einer Sperbereule aus Hessen
We present a historic specimen of a Northern Hawk-Owl Surnia u. ulula from Hesse, Germany, that has not been considered in the avifaunal literature so far. The bird was shot at the end of January 1911 in the forest Kaufunger Wald near Oberkaufungen (today municipality Kaufungen, district Kassel) and preserved as a specimen. It was acquired by Otto Kleinschmidt for his private bird collection that was later transferred to the Museum Koenig in Bonn, where the specimen is now kept in the ornithological collection.
